- Public transport is recommended due to the lack of public car parking near the venue.
By train
Flinders Street station is a 10 - 15 minute walk away across Princess Bridge over the Yarra River.
By tram
Stop 17 on St Kilda Road and Grant Street is the closest stop and all north and south bound trams running along St Kilda Road stop here (routes 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67, & 72, except route 1).
By car
There is limited pay and display parking around the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The Arts Centre has one large undercover car park open 24-hours, seven days a week. The entrance is located at the corner of Sturt and Kavanag Streets, Southbank.
What to Bring:
- Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather conditions, proof of age ID, cash.
Please note that whilst picnic blankets are permitted, they cannot be used to reserve large spaces of GA area. It is possible once the venue is full that other patrons will stand on your picnic blanket.
What not to Bring:
- You cannot bring the following into the venue:
Seating of any sort; professional cameras and cameras with detachable lenses; professional recording or broadcasting device; any item that you intend (or such quantities of the item from which Management can reasonably infer that you intend) to distribute, hawk, sell, offer, expose for sale or display for marketing or promotional purposes; aluminium cans, glass bottles and metal containers; unsealed plastic drink bottles; alcohol; illicit substances - any patrons detected in the possession of illegal substances will be referred to police; animals; hampers, coolers & eskys; firecrackers, flares, explosives, flammable liquids, knives, firearms, lasers or laser pointers, weapons and any other items which could impede safety or people's enjoyment.
Venue staff have the right to conduct security inspections & refuse entry of such items.
Food and Drink:
- A wide selection of hot & cold food, wines, beer, spirits and soft drink will be on sale in the venue. Licensing laws do not allow any alcohol to be brought into the venue and proof of age photo ID will be required to enter the venue. Empty water bottles and sealed plastic non alcoholic drinks are permitted. Free tap water will be available.
Pass outs:
- No pass outs will be permitted, unless otherwise advised.
Conditions of Entry - Licensed Event:
- Licensing laws do not allow any alcohol to be brought into the venue.
- Proof of age will be required to purchase alcoholic beverages.
- OVER 18 only. No ID No Entry. No Person under 18 years will be permitted entry into the venue. Security also has the right to refuse entry to any patron who is unable to provide suitable proof of age identification regardless of their age.
Weather:
- The Sidney Myer Music Bowl operates rain, hail or shine. Please come prepared from the weather:
Wet Weather
During performances umbrellas must be kept closed as they spoil the view for other patrons. If the forecast is for rain, please come prepared with a raincoat or poncho.
Hot Weather
If the forecast is for high temperatures please come prepared with sun protection and keep yourself hydrated. Free water stations are available to refill your water bottles and a range of drinks are available for purchase.
Accessibility:
- Accessible seating
Accessible seating is available for wheelchair users and their companions. You can book accessibility seating in person at the Arts Centre Box Office or via the telephone booking line 1300 182 183.
Wheelchairs can be booked through the Concierge. Please call 9281 8298 if you require assistance.
The Sidney Myer Music Bowl has a golf buggy available that staff can use should you require assistance getting from Linlithgow Ave to the venue.
Hearing impaired visitors
If you experience difficulty hearing, assisted listening devices are available for use in all seats of Arts Centre venues, as well as for Guided Tours and meetings. The units are available free of charge from venue staff, and either use standard headphones or connect with your hearing aid via a neck loop.

Companion Card
The Companion Card has been developed by the Victorian Network on Recreation and Disability (VICNORD) and admits carers to shows as complimentary guests. The Arts Centre welcomes holders of this card to attend the many events on offer.

Smoking:
- Please note that the reserved seating and the main hill general admittance sections are designated non smoking areas. A smoking zone will be available for use on one of the side hills.
